Description
Responsibilities (Under supervision of Managing Counsel):
• Analyze title abstracts and review chain of title to determine surface and mineral ownership
• Identify potential and/or actual defects in title
• Analyze mineral lease agreements to determine royalty interests, working interests, overriding royalty interests, and any other interest that may have been created by agreement
• Draft title opinions, recommending appropriate curative actions where necessary
• Identify encumbrances and defects that may affect the validity of oil and gas leases
• Analyze leases, contracts, agreements, rights-of-way, farm-outs/ farm-ins, joint operating agreements
Requirements:
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
• Minimum 1-5 years experience as a Licensed Texas Attorney in good standing
• Title examination experience as an Oil and Gas Title Attorney, or alternatively, experience working as a Petroleum Landman
• Confidence to make decisions in ambiguous circumstances without significant management oversight
• Ability to prioritize time spent on particular matters by value and risk
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work in a team environment
